This portfolio site for photographer, Mark Sherratt is effortless to use with the horizontal slide, focuses on the image and works well to separate his large volume of work out into a good number of smaller groups/categories. There’s well-thought-out functionality built in – the use of arrow keys to scroll and the menu disappearing upon doing so (so the focus remains squarely on the work). Website portfolio design has to consider functionality just as much as the visual aspect as part of the “design” of a site. Effective user interface design considers not only how it looks, but also how it works.
It was designed and built by Wildish and Co (http://www.wildishandco.co.uk) and Bit Circus (http://www.bitcircus.co.uk). Mark says, “I think it is fantastic. Does exactly what I wanted, which was to display my pictures nice and big and very simply.”
