Here’s a great idea to promote a photography degree show through the use of interactive posters and social media. Submitted to us by Joe Currie from Britain’s University of Gloucestershire’s BA (Hons) Editorial and Advertising Photography course.
Joe says, “When it came to planning our posters and invites for our photography degree show ‘HYPE 20’ we decided to do something a bit different. We have been working with youth marketing agency WE ARE (http://www.weare-weare.com/) to create an exciting campaign to promote our show by using interactive posters and social media to spread the word.
To do this we have screen printed the posters on clear acetate with empty space in the middle. The idea is that the acetate is used as a border to be placed over anything the receiver desires, which then becomes the poster. We encourage people to move the posters, use them how they wish and then to upload photos of their own ‘Hypes’ to instagram, twitter #gethyped and our facebook page www.facebook.com/hype20show
A variety of A2 A3 and A5 versions have been posted to industry professionals in a postal tube with a card invite encouraging them to upload photos of their ‘hypes’ and to come to the exhibition to see their ‘hypes’ which will be displayed on the entrance wall of the degree show gallery.
If you are in London we invite you to see what the hype is all about on the 22nd May. For updates until then check www.hypetwenty.com.”
