Stand Out Promo Helps to Land Internship

It’s rare to see such ingenuity as found in this wonderful promotional piece from design student, Sarah Becker. This smart, impeccably designed and crafted promo was tailor made to impress a specific studio in hopes of landing an internship – which it did. This promo demonstrates what a talented and enterprising young designer Sarah is!

Sarah explains, “In my junior year at Penn State, I created a promotional piece to secure a summer internship at the Chicago-based design studio, Doejo. Stacks is an adaptation of the popular stacking blocks game, Jenga. Each brick has a humorous design-related quote or question underneath. The promo contains the game set and a booklet featuring selected works.

What I felt drew them into hiring me was how I incorporated their studio life into a promotional piece specifically tailored to them. On their website they show pictures of a laid back studio atmosphere with lots of toys and other fun gadgets on a shelf and I felt like my promo would fit well alongside that. Despite the studio solely being digital, I felt like a more tactile print piece would be different than the work that they normally see. In the end, it worked because I got the internship there. Working at Doejo was an incredible opportunity and I gained valuable real world experience.”
