New York multidisciplinary designer, Robby Leonardi has created an awesome visual and motion effects online portfolio website and interactive resume. It captivates through fun, immersive illustrations, animation and motion. It truly shows the passion Robby has for this field and his work.
Robby told me, “I always wanted to have an interactive resume after I saw one last year in some design award website. However I also wanted to put my own touch on it. I wanted to give entertainment too rather than just information. After I thought about it for a while, I came up with an idea to make my resume looked like a game. I thought a game was really entertaining and I also have a big interest in game design. I never saw someone combined resume with game either, so I thought this project would be unique. The execution was not easy since resume and game are very different. Resume shows lots of text and some charts. Game shows lots of characters (main and enemies) and their levels. It would be too crowded if I just put them together literally. I needed to combine several visual elements from resume and game into one element. I did that by using game enemies as my resume’s charts. I positioned some of them side by side to create bar charts. I also designed some of them to show pie charts inside their body. They saved lots of spaces yet users would still be able to recognize them as resume’s charts and game characters. Another example of visual elements combination was game levels and resume’s sections. I
combined them so level 1 (ground) showed the ‘about’ section, level 2
(underwater) showed the ‘skills’ section, etc.”
